#11: How to Stay Sane During the Holidays?

Is it possible to be stress-free during the holiday season? Yes, it is! Let me share some tips on staying calm and collected during the holidays.

Holiday traditions are meant to give joy, though we cannot deny the fact that some of our traditions become mere obligations over time. Especially if it is something we have been accustomed to doing or fulfilling, repeatedly, every year, for a very long time. 

What are the holiday traditions you want to keep? Are there ones you wish you could change,  let go or do without? Are you still happy with the yearly habit you have formed?

Meeting the same people, family and friends, regardless of whether you have grown to be uncomfortable around them after 10 years; or cooking the same pork dish of Aunt Sally (that you don’t even like) just to please others; or perhaps is about preparing a tedious reunion program that none of the kids in the family are even interested in. Do these sound familiar? :) 

If fulfilling your list of duties during the holiday gives you stress and anxiety, PAUSE and ask yourself if this is still something you want to continue doing. The discomfort that you feel from breaking a habit is normal, however, it is also important to check in and reassess your feelings

Maybe it’s time to change the tradition or let it go. Let us do ourselves a favor and bring back the happiness and true spirit of the holiday season in our lives.
